Director
Timothy Read Ph. D. is an Associate Professor in the Division of Infectious Disease and Department of Human Genetics. He received a BSc from the University of London and Ph. D. from Leicester University in the UK. After postdoctoral training at Emory in microbial pathogenesis he became an Assistant Investigator at the Institute for Genomic Research. After five years he left to run the Genomics Department at the Naval Medical Research Center, where he pioneered the introduction of 454 pyrosequencing technologies for Biodefense application.
Laboratory Manager
Chad Haase, B.S. received his BS in Zoology from Washington State University. Prior to joining the Genomics Center, he worked in research for 10 years at the Emory School of Medicine, Dept of Pathology & Emory School of Public Health, Dept. of Epidemiology. He has co-authored several publications of his work in the Pathology Department and managed a large cohort population study to find the causes of cancer within Georgia.
Systems Manager
M. Ryan Weil, Ph.D. received his doctorate training in Molecular Biophysics at UT Southwestern in Dallas. His work there was focused in the development and improvement of methods for genomic and proteomic research. His professional experience includes Roche/454 Inc where he worked extensively with experiment design and bioinformatics for Next Generation Sequencing customers. Most recently he was a manager with Strand Life Sciences.
